ALBERTO DENIS (BA in Theater/Dance, Rhode Island College, summa cum laude)

A company member of Third Rail Projects since 2011, Mr. Denis has been an original collaborating cast member in several of the company’s preeminent works including their Bessie’s Awards winning “Then She Fell” originating the role of Lewis Carroll as well as playing the role of Doctor. completing over 1200 peroformances, “The Grand Paradise” which ran for 11 months in 2016 to critical acclaim originating the role of the Activities Director (and subsequently playing the role of Dad), and in the sold out 73 show run of “Ghost Light” at Lincoln Center in 2017. Most recently he completed a 37 sold out run of “Confection” commissioned by the Folger Shakespeare Library in Washington DC in 2019. Throughout this time he has also supported his burgeoning career as international male burlesque sensation GoGo Gadget, with featured performances at almost 7 years of the New York Boylesk Festivals, featured in the 2012, 2013 & 2016 London Burlesque Festivals, performances in Boston, New York City, Denver, Toronto, Paris, Stockholm and Vienna.

Mr. Denis has taught dance and acting workshops/classes at The Royal Danish School of Theater & Dance (Copenhagen, Denmark), The University of Utah (Salt Lake City), Rhode Island College (Providence, RI), Trinity College (New Haven, CT), Hunter College (NYC). Most recently he completed a weeklong residency as guest artist teacher at Oberlin College in Ohio teaching workshops in Immersive Theater Techniques, modern/contemporary dance classes and guest lecturer for the Gender’s Studies course in NYC nightlife. In 2018 Alberto joined the esteemed New Victory Theater’s Teaching Artists Ensemble based within The New 42nd Street in the heart of Times Square and Broadway. He has performed for Arthur Aviles' Typical Theater for five years & in projects for Doug Elkins, Risa Jaroslow, Palissimo Dance Theater, Dixie Fun Dance Theater, ann and alexx make dances, Marta Renzi, Alexandra Beller, Michael Leleux, Heidi Latsky Dance, Lawrence Goldhuber, Luis Lara Malvacias, JoAnna Mendl Shaw’s Equus Projects, and Mei Yin Ng’s Mei-Be Whatever. He was also a featured performer in the Whitney Museum's Christian Marclay: Festival performance of Prêt-a´-Porter. His choreography has been produced at Dance Theater Workshop's Family Matters, Danspace Project’s Food For Thought, Dixon Place’s Body Blend & Moving Men, BAAD!’s Boogie Down Dance Series and Out Like That Festival, The LaGuardia Performing Arts Center and Kinetics Dance Theater, Baltimore MD.

Also in August of 2015 he served as guest director for The Mists, an immersive dance/theater event premiering at the Red Butte Gardens in association with The University of Utah, Salt Lake City. In 2008 Alberto created [QuA²D] = The Queens Academy of Arts & Dance after leaving his position as Production Director/Producer for Dance New Amsterdam where he created the staff infrastructure for their inaugural theater on Chambers Street in lower Manhattan, while co-curating their first 3 seasons of programing. Most recently Mr. Denis has enjoyed an unprecedented successful rise to prominence in the international burlesque scene through his alter ego of GoGo Gadget, whom he premiered in Fall of 2011 and has since taken to stages for the first three inaugural NY Boylesk Festivals, twice to the London Burlesque Festival, the Toronto Burlesque Festival, Midnight Madness Burlesque in Vienna, Austria and multiple times in Paris at the Lettingo Cabaret. Previously he created the Wight Room Dance Series presented at The Movement Salon near Union Square. Mr. Denis has toured the world (Dubai, Dublin, Barcelona, Bangkok, Taipei, Mexico City, Oslo, Prague & others) as a Stage Manager, Audio Engineer, Assistant Technical Director & Production Electrician as well as a Performer for many choreographers. He’s created sound designs for Alexandra Beller, Richard Rivera, Nathan Trice, Arthur Aviles and Karl Anderson. Alberto has taught Arthur Aviles' Swift/Flow technique as well as Contact Improvisation, and Composition at Trinity College, Lourdes College and the Kinetics Dance Theater Summer Intensive, in Baltimore, MD. Alberto has also served on the Dance Theater Workshop Curatorial Advisory Committee, Bronx Council on the Arts BRIO Awards Panel, Queens Council on the Arts artist panel, DCA & LMCC grant panels, and recently ended his service on the Dance/NYC Advisory Committee for more than 8 years. He has operated as a professional DJ and events Emcee for the past 20 years also.
